Ikkanbari Basket “Phoenix and Flowers” Size L


Several layers of washi papers, Kimono and Obi (a long sash tied about the waist over a Japanese kimono) are applied to a bamboo basket. Then later, Kakishibu lacquer (persimmon tannin) is applied to make the basket durable and water-resistant.

Front side: Using Obi as a base, and put antique Tomesode with embroider phoenix. (Tomesode is a formal black silk kimono worn by married women on ceremonial occasions.) 

Back side: Iro Tomesode with embroider flowers. (Iro Tomesode is a formal silk kimono worn by married women on ceremonial occasions and there are various colors.) 

Side: Kimono with Japanese traditional patterns.

Inside: Several layers of thick washi papers

Bag handle: Covered with pieces of pongee

Bottom: Using leather as bag feet
